Crewel Work Jacobean Motif
Crewel work refers to the traditional hand embroidery technique which uses wool threads on a background of linen twill. The term Jacobean describes a distinct design style which became very popular using the crewel work technique during the 17th century.
With all of the fabrics, threads, needles and other materials required included in this kit, you too will be able to create this beautiful Jacobean inspired hand embroidery design. The clear step by step instructions with additional diagrams and photographs will guide you easily through your project.
The stitches used to create the design include: stem stitch, chain stitch, split stitch, long and short stitch, trellis stitch, french knots, whipped wheels, buttonhole stitch, whipped back stitch, seeding stitch and satin stitch.
Each kit contains: linen twill, Appleton wools, needles, design and instructions and is suitable for all skill levels.
In addition you will need an 8 inch ring frame and embroidery scissors to complete this kit.
