Goldwork 3D Bird

Learn the beautiful hand embroidery technique of  gold metal-thread work to create your own glistening 3-dimensional bird.

This simple design will introduce you to a number of goldwork embroidery techniques including chipping, couching and cutowork; these will be used to apply various gilt metal threads such as pearl purl, bright check, japanese thread, spangles and gold kid leather along with creating raised shapes with felt padding.

This kit includes all of the threads, fabrics and needles required to complete this beautiful hand embroidery design and the clear instruction booklet with step by step photographs will guide you easily through your project.

Materials included in the kit: ivory cotton fabric, size 9 and 10 embroidery needles, felt, padding materials, gilt metal threads, kid leather, Gutermann machine thread and beeswax.

Difficulty level: Intermediate to Advanced - this kit is suitable for those who have had a go at goldwork embroidery before.

Design dimensions: 8cm x 3.5cm

Additional equipment required: 8 inch ring frame, embroidery scissors, paper scissors and a gold coloured pencil or HB pencil.

Other useful equipment: Goldwork scissors, pins and a velvet board may also be useful but are not essential.
