Spend a creative weekend with expert hand embroiderer Helen Richman at the Royal School Of Needlework learning how to stitch this striking Tiger design. 

Learn the beautiful craft of canvas shading; a wonderful hand embroidery technique which can be used to create sunning designs which have an almost photographic quality. Colour, texture and shape are achieved using colour blending of crewel wool in the needle.

This two day course will set you up with the basic skills of canvas shading; creating tent stitch and learning the difference between this and half cross stitch, blending colours seamlessly across a design, combining colours of thread in the needle, planning your order of work, creating added texture to your with stem stitch and lastly creating a condensed scotch stitch border for added depth and dimension.

This class is suitable for all abilities, whether you have done canvas shading embroidery before or not, Helen will guide you through the project step by step, first demonstrating each technique before you have a go on your own piece. 

Helen will provide a kit of all fabrics, threads and needles required for the course with the design already printed onto aida fabric. You will also get a detailed instruction booklet with notes and progress photos to keep as reference after your day.
