Hand Embroidery Flowercup Workshop, £65 per person
Spend a creative day with expert hand embroiderer Helen Richman at Heritage Courtyard Gallery and Studios, nestled in the stunning historic city of Wells.
Whether you’re a complete beginner at embroidery or just a bit ‘rusty’ this is a great place to start. Taught in a small, informal group this class will introduce you to a range of stitches and techniques to create the beautiful set design ‘Flowercup’.
You will learn and practise using stranded cottons, crewel wool and gilt Japanese metal thread to create stem stitch, fly stitch, chain stitch, detached chain stitch, split stitch, satin stitch, trellis stitch, whipped wheels, French knots and couching.
Helen will provide a kit of all fabrics, threads and needles required for the day with the design already printed onto fabric. You will also get a detailed instruction booklet with notes and progress photos to keep as reference after your day.
Helen lives in Bruton, Somerset with her husband, daughter and spaniel. She completed a three year apprenticeship at the Royal School Of Needlework in 2009 and since then has been regularly teaching at the school as well as running her own business The Bluebird Embroidery Company. Helen teaches embroidery classes across the UK and internationally, creates bespoke pieces of textile artwork and commissions and has designed a wide range of embroidery kits which will be available to purchase on the day.
